THE Singapore Slingers sent Tanduay Alab Pilipinas reeling to its second straight home defeat, 97-83, on Wednesday night at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna.
The Slingers got a major lift from their two imports and former PBA player AJ Mandani as they claimed a second win in three outings in the young Asean Basketball League (ABL) season.
Gaining momentum in the third quarter, Alab cut what once stood as a double-digit deficit to a point, 72-71, only to fade again in the payoff period.
A jumper by Mandani gave Singapore a 95-75 lead halfway through the fourth period.
Xavier Alexander had a triple-double for the visitors with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists while fellow world import Ryan Tucker added 24 points and 18 rebounds.
Mandani played his best game as a Slinger, finishing with 17 points, four assists, and three steals.
Reggie Okosa had 24 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, while fellow Alab import Ivan Johnson had 19 points and eight rebounds.
But the hosts proved too slow to keep pace with the Slingers, who took every opportunity to run Alab to the ground.
