Lowly Kia Picanto aim for a brand new start under the banner of Columbian Dyip when the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup begins on April 22.
The name change was brought upon by the Ayala Corporation’s acquisition for the distribution rights of the Korean automotive brand, forcing Columbian Autocar Corporation to once again rebrand its PBA team.
This is the franchise’s sixth name change since entering the league in 2014 as Kia Sorento.
However, it would take more than just a rebrand to erase the blemish the team had to endure last conference.
The Picanto went 1-10 in their campaign last 2018 Philippine Cup, and coach Ricky Dandan is hopeful that this reboot will reinvigorate the team’s chances in the second conference.
Columbian Dyip areset to parade 27-year-old CJ Aiken as their reinforcement, joining forces with locals Rashawn McCarthy, Ronald Tubid, and Eric Camson.
The new-look squad makes its debut on opening day against Blackwater at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
