Ginebra taps Shane Edwards as import with Brownlee still in ABL

Justin Brownlee won’t be able to suit up for Barangay Ginebra, at least in the early part of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Brownlee is still playing for Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League, which is why coach Tim Cone was forced to look for a temporary import.

Enter Shane Edwards, who saw action for the Alaska Aces in 2016.

Cone said Edwards will temporarily hold the fort while Brownlee is unavailable.

“Yes, that’s correct,” said the Ginebra coach in Spin.

Edwards averaged 22.11 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in his 9 games with Alaska.

He actually played against Brownlee in the ABL while acting as a reinforcement for CLS Indonesia. The Indonesian club is already out of playoffs contention in the ABL, hence, he is available for Ginebra.
