LOOK who's back.
Calvin Abueva rejoined Gilas Pilipinas' practice on Monday night, exactly a week after being dropped from the pool for the second window of the 2019 Fiba World Cup qualifiers by coach Chot Reyes.
The enigmatic forward was all smiles as he entered the Meralco Gym, greeting other members of the Gilas pool as well as the team's support staff before getting dressed.
The Alaska forward and Raymond Almazan of Rain or Shine were dropped from the pool for matches against Australia and Japan on Feb. 22 and 25, respectively, after missing the team's first three Monday-only practices.
Reyes has made no announcement on Abueva's status but sources said the former San Sebastian star called up the national coach on Monday before showing up for practice.
Ironically, Abueva showed up for the first time in Gilas practice just two days after missing Alaska's game against Blackwater owing to a 'personal emergency.'
According to witnesses, the 6-2 energizer bunny warmed up for the Philippine Cup game but left before tip-off. Team officials said he got the permission to leave.
