The 2017 SEABA U16 Championship is almost here!

The Philippines' 2017 Batang Gilas U16 roster will represent the country to the South East Asian qualifier under-16 men's tournament from May 14-18 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines.

Here's a look to the 2017 Batang Gilas lineup!

Bigs:
Kai Sotto (Ateneo HS) – 6’11 (2.10m)
Geo Chiu (Ateneo HS) – 6’8 (2.02m)
Raven Cortez (De La Salle-Zobel) – 6’7 (2.01m)
Bismarck Lina (UST HS) – 6’5 (1.95m)
Josh Lazaro (San Beda HS) – 6’5 (1.95m)

Wings:
Rafael Go (Chiang Kai Shek HS) – 6’2 (1.89m)
Miguel Tan (Xavier School) – 6’2 (1.89m)
RC Calimag (San Beda HS) – 6’1 (1.86m)
McLaude Guadaña (Lyceum HS) – 5’11 (1.80m)

Guards:
Forthsky Padrigao (Ateneo HS) – 6’0 (1.82m)
Terrence Fortea (NU HS) – 5’11 (1.80m)
Migs Pascual (San Beda HS) – 5’11 (1.80m)

Reserves:
Lloyd Oliva (La Salle Gren Hills) – 6’6 (1.98m)
Daniel Coo (St. John’s Bacolod) – 6’2 (1.89m)
Ryan Yu (Xavier School) – 5’10 (1.77m)

The obvious initial impression is that this is certainly the tallest Batang Gilas U16 team ever. Just to compare, Will Gozum (6’6) was our biggest player in 2015, Richard Escoto (6’6) was our tallest in 2013, and the same is true for Isaac Go (6’6 back then) in 2011.

The top 3 teams in SEABA U16 tournament will advance to the 2017 FIBA U16 Asia Championship later this year.
