United States Final 12-Man Roster for FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain

The United States has announced on Monday a total of 19 players for their FIBA World Cup training camp in Las Vegas from July 28 to August 1, scheduled to pick the official Team USA final roster of 12.

Team USA is bracing to defend its status as the best basketball nation in the world, selecting a powerhouse stars that will face off other international basketball stars at the World Basketball Champion 2014 in Spain.

Derrick Rose, Stephen Curry and James Harden lead United States men’s basketball national or Team USA at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup held from Aug. 30 to Sept. 14 in Spain.

Rose, Curry and Harden will joined in the Team USA line-up by Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons); DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings); Mason Plumlee (Brooklyn Nets); Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans); Rudy Gay (Sacramento Kings); DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors); Kenneth Faried (Denver Nuggets); Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors) and Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers).

Meanwhile, NBA stars not making the final roster for Team USA are Chandler Parsons (Dallas Mavericks); Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers), Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz) and Kyle Korver (Atlanta Hawks), all of whom were cut on Friday as announced by Jerry Colangelo, director of the Team USA basketball.


Team USA is anchored by its managing director Jerry Colangelo and coach, Mike Krzyzewski, who led the United States to its first-place finishes in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and 2010 FIBA World Cup. If the team brings home the gold at the World Cup, they'll qualify for the 2016 Olympics. Assistant coaches are Jim Boeheim, Tom Thibodeau and Monty Williams.

Team USA opens its FIBA basketball world cup 2014 campaign against Finland on Aug. 30 then followed by the highly anticipated rematch of 2010 World Basketball finals versus Turkey on Aug. 31. The United States rest on Sept. 1 and faces New Zealand on Sept. 2, Dominican Republic on Sept. 3 and Ukraine on Sept. 4.
